How the Flame Test works
The Flame Test uses the exact questions that shape your profile in the Shine app, in three acts. What you are sets the shape of your flame: how much room you take, how people discover you, how you say what you feel, how many conversations you keep going. How you love gives it color and motion: your social energy, your first move, your humor, your compass, what touches you, what you see in the clouds, your weekends, your rhythm. Who you are looking for decides how calm or wild it burns. There are no good or bad answers, and no two flames are identical.
What your result means
At the end, your flame is named among twenty-eight archetypes, from the Vestal to the Aurora, each one belonging to one of six families: Vivid, Steady, Secret, Dreamers, Winding and Free. Your answers also point to a kindred four-letter type, the same letters people use for the 16 personality types. It is a portrait drawn from what you told us, not a clinical assessment, and it is meant to start conversations, not to put you in a box.
From your flame to your matches
In the Shine app, your flame is not just a pretty picture. When you open someone’s profile, the two flames meet and a Soul Match score appears, from 0 to 100, computed from your answers and never from photos. Some answers reward similarity, like what you are looking for; others reward a light contrast, like an introvert with an extrovert. Above 90%, you can write to each other directly.
Why a flame?
Because a personality is not a list of adjectives. A flame has a shape, a color, a rhythm and a temperament, just like the way people love. It is also the only personality result you can take in at a glance: a steady, rounded, amber flame and a wild, many-tongued blue one tell two very different stories before a single word is read.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Flame Test free?
Yes, completely. No account, no email, no payment. You can take it as many times as you like.
How long does it take?
About three minutes. There are fourteen questions, sometimes thirteen: one of them only appears if your answers call for it.
Are my answers saved?
Your answers stay in your browser. They are not sent to our servers. If you share your result, the link itself carries your answers in a compact form, so anyone who opens it sees the same flame.
Will I get the same flame in the Shine app?
The app asks the same questions and uses the same flame engine. Each account also has a personal seed, so the fine nuances of your flame may differ slightly, like two sisters.
What is the kindred four-letter type?
Four axes are inferred from your answers: where your energy comes from, how you see things, how you decide, and how you plan. The result uses the familiar letters of the 16 types. It is not an official MBTI® assessment and is not affiliated with it.
Which archetype is the rarest?
All twenty-eight exist, but some need a very particular combination of answers. The best way to find out is to compare with friends: share your link and see what they get.
